Tygers of Pan Tang are a heavy metal band formed in Whitley Bay, North Tyneside, in 1978. They became one of the key groups associated with the New Wave of British Heavy Metal and built their early reputation through shows around Newcastle and the North East.
The band’s breakthrough years produced albums including Wild Cat, Spellbound, Crazy Nights and The Cage, along with songs such as “Don’t Touch Me There”, “Hellbound”, “Gangland” and “Love Potion No. 9”. Original guitarist Robb Weir remains central to the modern line-up.
Tygers of Pan Tang continue to tour internationally while retaining a strong connection to Whitley Bay and the wider North East. Their current activity includes new music in 2026 alongside UK and overseas dates.
