Tygers of Pan Tang are a heavy metal band formed in Whitley Bay in 1978 and one of the key groups associated with the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. Their early reputation was built through shows around Newcastle and the wider North East before the band broke nationally.
Albums including Wild Cat, Spellbound, Crazy Nights and The Cage established their place in British metal, alongside songs such as Don’t Touch Me There, Hellbound, Gangland and Love Potion No. 9. Original guitarist Robb Weir remains central to the modern line-up.
Tygers of Pan Tang continue to tour internationally while retaining a strong connection to Whitley Bay and the North East. Their 2026 schedule includes new music and a return to Newcastle for a November show at Trillians Rock Bar, bringing a long-running metal story back close to where it began.
