Blair Dunlop brings sixth-album tour to Head of Steam

Blair Dunlop Head of Steam Newcastle brings the award-winning British singer-songwriter and guitarist to Neville Street on Wednesday 25 November 2026. Doors are from 7pm, with the show landing inside a late-November UK run that moves through Manchester, Glasgow, Newcastle, Shipley, Sheffield and London.

Dunlop has spent his career working between contemporary songwriting and the British folk tradition he grew up around. His catalogue now stretches from 2012 debut Blight & Blossom through House of Jacks, Gilded, Notes from an Island and 2024 album Out of the Rain.

Blair Dunlop’s sixth studio album is scheduled for release in October 2026. That makes the Newcastle date particularly useful because it falls only weeks later, when the newest material should be fully embedded into the live set rather than appearing as a distant preview of something still to come.

The Head of Steam show sits near the end of Dunlop’s late-November UK tour. His official Bandcamp lists Newcastle between Glasgow on 24 November and Shipley on 26 November, before the run closes with Sheffield and London.

The small-room setting should suit his music well. Dunlop’s work relies on guitar detail, storytelling and songs that can move between folk tradition and more contemporary singer-songwriter writing. In a venue like Head of Steam, those elements can stay close to the audience without being swallowed by a larger production.

There is also a useful contrast between his experience and the scale of the room. Dunlop has toured internationally and played major festivals, but the Newcastle date brings that catalogue into a grassroots venue where the focus stays almost entirely on the songs and playing.

His 2024 album Out of the Rain already showed a songwriter still pushing forward rather than simply leaning on early Folk Award success. A sixth record arriving in 2026 gives the Head of Steam set another fresh chapter to draw from.
