THE HYBRIDS at The Point Sunderland
The Hybrids bring a three-piece classic-rock set to The Point Sunderland on Friday 2 October. Event starts 7pm; band live at 8:45pm. Free entry.
The Hybrids open October’s Live Lounge run at The Point Sunderland with a three-piece classic-rock set on Friday 2 October. Their songbook is broad enough to keep the night moving, with Queen, Rainbow, The Police, Foo Fighters, Whitesnake, The Who, Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd and ZZ Top all fitting into the same set.
Table Of Content
That range gives the band room to shift between hard rock, bluesier material and songs with bigger pop hooks. It also means this is not a narrow tribute exercise. The attraction is hearing a compact three-piece take on songs normally associated with some very different bands and production styles.
The Hybrids at The Point Sunderland
A three-piece line-up leaves very little room for weak playing, so recognisable riffs, a strong rhythm section and a confident frontman become the centre of the night. That format suits a set built around classic-rock staples and direct live energy.
The event starts at 7pm and Happy Hour runs from 7pm to 8pm. The Hybrids are on stage at 8:45pm, with free entry. That leaves a useful gap before the band starts and should make it easy to arrive without missing the opening songs.
Classic rock without a single-band theme
For listeners who enjoy classic rock but do not want a full evening devoted to one artist, this is probably the stronger option. Queen and Led Zeppelin can sit beside Foo Fighters and The Police without the night feeling too rigid, while ZZ Top and Lynyrd Skynyrd bring a different edge again.
